The AMHP Hub is co-located with a Locality Mental Health Social Care Team and a Home Treatment Team in Taunton however, you will need to be able to travel across Somerset to carry out Mental Health Act assessments.  All AMHPs who work office hours in the service are based at the Hub however, there is flexibility for AMHPs who work out of hours and an alternative base within Somerset can be negotiated.

About the Job

A post has become available for a fully qualified AMHP in the 24 Hour AMHP Service in Somerset.  This is an opportunity to start or develop your career as an AMHP in a supportive AMHP Team which is managed by a practicing AMHP.  You could work primarily office hours, out of hours or a combination of both. Some AMHPs within the service work long days 3 days a week; this is also an option that can be discussed with the successful applicant. Part-time AMHPs will also be considered.

About You

In order to succeed as an AMHP in the service, you will need to use all your AMHP and social care skills to engage with people and their families in creative ways. Strong social care values, flexibility, a ‘can do’ approach, high standards and the ability to work in a relational way using purposeful conversations will be essential for these roles.  You will of course bring with you excellent understanding of the Mental Health Act and its interface with the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.

What we’ll offer in return

In return, you will be working in a fast paced, supportive Hub environment and will be managed by a service manager who is a practising AMHP. Monthly supervision, an annual appraisal, and training and development will be provided to ensure you have the knowledge, skills and support to undertake your role. Regular legal update training is provided alongside social care development days.
